Obituary of Dolores Lajoie
Dolores J. Lajoie of Eugene went to party with God on March 3rd, 2014 at 84, after a prolonged battle with stroke related illness. Dolores had lived in Eugene since her teens and graduated from Eugene High School in 1948. As we celebrate Dolores, we remember the things she loved and the things that defined her. We think of her love of the Lord, teddy bears, cross-stitch. Richard Simmons, feeding the hobos, and helping anyone in need. We think of how she started life on March 15, 1929 in a Salvation Army hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan with less than a fair shake, but she never let that keep her down. She fought hard to improve and consistently strove to be better. Dolores was a fighter, and she was ambitious. In fact, as she sat in her wheelchair she was still planning one more cruise. What really defined her though, were her many roles. First as a beautiful teen who survived desperate conditions, then as a young bride to Harland. Then she had three precious children, she treasured motherhood. Later, she became a grandmother and doted on her precious little ones. She loved being a mother, and a grandmother. She also worked for Agripac processing local fruits and vegetables, retiring after twenty plus years. And finally, the role she spent the most time in, was as a devoted wife to Harland for over 65 years. After she passed, he said, "I've lost my best friend". We shall miss her terribly. "And God shall wipe the tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Revelation 21:4. Services to be held at Lane Memorial Gardens, Saturday, March 8th, at 11:00 a.m.
