Obituary of Ron Staley

Born November 17, 1957 in Eugene, OR, Ronald Dale Staley was called home to Heaven on March 7, 2014. Passing from this world from unknown natural causes, he leaves behind several family members; his parents, Nancy and Perry Staley of Dexter, his brother, Lenny Staley, of Dexter, Daughter Kristen and Son-in-law Ryan Hutchinson, of Springfield, and daughter, Kimberly Staley, of Dexter. He was 56.Ron grew up in Pleasant Hill, where he attended school. A high school Letterman, Ron was a three letter athlete, participating in football, basketball and track. Ron was an offensive lineman, and was a member of the 1974 Pleasant Hill High School State Championship Football Team.Following graduation, Ron attended Oregon State University. Anyone who knew him, knew he bled orange and black. "Avid Oregon State Fan," was not strong enough to describe his passion for his Alma Mater. During summers between classes he could be found working blue collar jobs and coaching little league baseball.Returning to Eugene after college, Ron found work as an accountant. He also became a member of the Eugene Active 20-30 Club. He chaired many events, received many awards, and even served as Club President in 1986. To this day, stories circulate the club of the tales of many Christmas Tree Pick-ups and the wild adventures that were to be had; some including wildlife.Ron would be quick to tell you his biggest accomplishment was his children. He loved his daughters unconditionally and was proud of each of them and their successes. Even though neither of his girls attended Oregon State University, he was immensely proud that each of his daughters graduated from college.Ron was not flashy and did not like to be the center of attention. He was most at home in the outdoors, where he spent much time as a youth, hunting and fishing.A memorial service is planned for Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 2pm at Trent Church of Christ in Dexter, OR. Rather than coming to remember him, Ron would have asked for people to attend in order to support "his girls," who have already lost their mother and now find themselves without him as well. He is at peace with the Lord.In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Eugene Active 20-30 Foundation at http://www.eugene2030.org/donate.php.Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
