Obituary of Allen Nave

Allen Nave, 78, of Eugene, Oregon died at a local hospital on April 5, 2014 of complications from a recent stroke. He was born October 7, 1935 to Jim and Laura Nave in Dexter, Oregon. He graduated from Lowell High School in 1953 and attended the University of Oregon briefly before beginning a 39 year career as a clerk with Southern Pacific Railroad. He married Shirley Gullickson Hamper of Eugene on April 29, 1978.He was ordained a deacon for Trinity Baptist Church of Springfield and later served as deacon for Riviera Baptist Church in Eugene. He was an avid fan of U O Ducks sports programs and held season football tickets from the opening of Autzen Stadium in 1967. A loyal family man, he also attended hundreds of sporting events at North Eugene High School, as well as for his two sons, numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members. He and his wife loved to travel and visit family throughout the country and recently made a trip to Alaska and Hawaii to complete having seen all 50 states. Hobbies included vegetable gardening, motorcycle camping trips with friends, and he jogged extensively for 30 years.Allen is survived by his wife Shirley, son’s, Mark Hamper of Lakewood, Washington and Greg Hamper and his wife Dawn of Kelso, Washington; two brothers Floyd Nave and his wife Tonya of Tigard, Oregon and Gary Nave and his wife Jody of Hubbard, Oregon; as well as three grandchildren, a great grandson to be born soon and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Riviera Baptist Church, 3071 River Road, Eugene, Oregon. Interment will be at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene. Viewing will be Friday, April 11th at Musgrove Family Mortuary from 2:00 to 6:00 PM and on Saturday at the Church from 11:00 to 11:45 AM.
