Beverly Andreason

Obituary of Beverly Andreason

Beverly (“Bev”) Ann Andreason was born on February 24, 1935 to Burton Hansen and Grace (Saltzgiver) Hansen. One of three children, she was raised in a loving home in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. Bev worked for Kennecott Copper Mine in Salt Lake City, Utah until she retired. Bev married J.C. Brock, Jr. in 1952 and their son Clayton Brock was born on May 27, 1953. Bev remarried in 1960 to Richard Holt and in 1963 to Thomas Porcker. On November 22, 1971, Bev married the love of her life, Norman (“Norm”) Burke Andreason. Norm was a pilot and they were snowbirds. They would follow the warm weather in his Cessna airplane. They loved to travel and spent a lot of time in Coronado and San Francisco, as well as taking road trips in their camping trailer. They enjoyed spending time at their cabin at Bear Lake, where they would work on the cabin over the years, painting and staining the wood, and they loved to pick raspberries there for Bev to use making her famous jam. Bev loved spending time with family, completing jigsaw puzzles, and staying up late reading. She worked hard to make holidays special. Bev had a smile that could light up the room, and thoroughly enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra to pass the time. More important than her looks and hobbies however was her compassion for fellow human beings. She was a very generous woman with an indomitable spirit and a keen sense of humor. She was always straight forward and had a unique ability to listen without judgement. She was her family’s cheerleader, and encouraged them at more than one crossroad. She always gave her time to care for others, and was willing to help others and make them feel welcome in whatever way she could. She never complained about her circumstances and was always thankful for what she had and the people in her life. Bev took care of her beloved Norm who had Parkinson’s for several years until he passed away. Bev was a fighter and survived breast cancer, and towards the end of Bev’s life, a series of strokes took her sight. Bev finished her days peacefully at Emerald Valley Assisted Living, surrounded by wonderful and dedicated care givers and staff members who had the honor of caring for Bev since 2006, but in reality, and in true Bev fashion, it was Beverly that was caring for them. She was a breath of fresh air, full of life and sarcasm, and she made certain that the entire staff felt loved and rewarded for their daily work. When Bev spoke of her adventures with Norm (as she often did), her body language would change and she would drift to these places in her head; you could tell these were the happiest times for her by the change in her eyes and the warmth of the memories radiating from her entire body.Beverly was predeceased by her parents, her sister Edna Hansen Rice, and her four husbands. Beverly is survived by her son Clayton Brock, grandson Benjamin Brock, twin granddaughters Brandy Brock and Meekem Brock, step-grandson Michael Hansen, four step-great-grandchildren, brother Burton Hansen, Jr., and nieces and nephews Carolyn Schneider, Cris Warzyn, Russell Rice, Jon Hansen, Ted Hansen, and Mary Parish.
