Obituary of Roy Lahti

Roy O. Lahti died peacefully on April 26, 2014 at the age of 94. He was born March 17, 1920 in Astoria, Oregon to Joseph and Sophia (Heikkinen) Lahti. Roy was pre-deceased by his wife LaVonne Lahti, brother Osmo Lahti, step sister Marie Heikkinen and step-brother Bill Heikkinen. Roy is survived by his half-brother Norman Heikkinen, son Curtis Lahti, three step-children Dixie Lucas, Charlene Eusted, and Clifford Stiffler and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After Roy graduated from Clatskanie High School in 1938 he attended Portland Business College in Portland Oregon. He was drafted into the Army in the 1940s and served during WWII. After being discharged from the Army, Roy returned to Springfield where he worked as a carpenter. He met and married LaVonne on April 15, 1960. Roy enjoyed working in his garden, playing golf, bowling and shooting pool with friends. A memorial service will be held at Springfield Memorial Gardens on Friday May 2, 2014 at 12:30.
