Margaret Mary “Peg” Maginnis, passed away on May 2, 2014 in Eugene, Oregon, due to complications from an aggressive metastatic cancer.Peg was born March 16, 1947 in Philadelphia, the third of six children, born to Tom and Jean Maginnis. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and her brother, Dennis.She is survived by her brothers, Tom, Jerry, (Lee Ann) and Kevin (Barbara), Her sister, Jean, her son David (Melissa) her daughter Regina and her grandchildren Renee, Alissa, Wade & Gavin, as well as many nieces and nephews.Peg was raised in the Philadelphia area and attended St. Cecilia Grade School, St. Hubert's High School and Immaculata College. Subsequently, she attended Law School at Willamette University in Oregon and passed the bar exam.She started her family in New Jersey before moving to Phoenix Arizona, where she lived for many years. She moved to Eugene in the 1980’s where she practiced law for over 25 years. The Maginnis Law Firm provided professional services to many individual clients and families in their time of need, specializing in bankruptcy work.Peg’s many hobbies included following politics, reading, gardening and running. She successfully completed two marathons. She loved to vacation at the family summer home in Wildwood Crest, New Jersey, where she spent many happy summers with her brothers and sisters.Peg was a devoted mother and grandmother and a devout Catholic who often attended daily mass. She was a compassionate and caring person who often donated her time at a food pantry or legal services to help those in need.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Peg on Tuesday, May 6th at St. Mary Catholic Church in Eugene at 12:15 pm.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Vincent De Paul Society, care of St. Mary Catholic Church, 1062 Charnelton Street, Eugene, OR. 97401Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
