Obituary of Susan D. Detlefsen

Susan Diane Detlefsen passed away suddenly on May 5, 2014 in St. George, Utah. She and her husband Dan were on vacation at her time of death. Susie was born Susan Diane Filley on December 23, 1947 in Portland, Oregon to parents John E. Filley, Sr. and Virginia A. Filley. Susie attended Elmira High School and graduated in 1966. She then attended and graduated from the University of Oregon. Susie married the man of her dreams, Dan, 14 years ago and they lived in Portland. She had several jobs during her lifetime, the last one being a Mortgage Loan Officer. Her main interests were her church, traveling and her family. She will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John (Butch) E. Filley, Jr. Susie is survived by her husband Daniel (Dan) A. Detlefsen of Portland, OR; a brother, William (Bill) L. Filley of Eugene OR; two nieces, Kristi Slaughter and Rene Filley; and four nephews, Eric Filley, Travis Lambert, Lucas Filley, and Bradley Detlefsen. She loved them all very much. Susie had a great sense of humor and loved getting off the beaten path, exploring the 'road over there'. Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, May 13th at 2:00 pm. A memorial service will be at Aurora Presbyterian Church at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
