Obituary of Ray Young
Raymond “Ray” Young, 92 of Springfield, passed away on May 29, 2014. A funeral service will be held at noon on June 5, 2014 at Musgrove Family Center in Eugene. A viewing will be from 9:00-11:00am prior to the service. Ray was born November 7, 1921 in Bandon, Oregon to Herald and Alta (Randleman) Young. He was a life member of the NRA and a member of the fraternal order of the Eagles. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, singing, and dancing. Ray worked as a truck driver for Darigold and retired after 31 years. Ray was preceded in death by his first wife, Cleva Young, and a daughter, Janis Achor. Survivors include his wife, Iola Young; a brother, Vernon Young of Springfield, Oregon; a sister, Carmelita Andersen of Redmond, Oregon; a daughter, Debi Kelley of Eugene; two step-daughters, Patty Eliasen and Carol Deverell, both of Eugene; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Private entombment will be at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Eugene. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association. Arrangements entrusted to England’s Eugene Memorial Chapel.
