Obituary of Frederick C. Vergot

Frederick Charles Vergot, 85, of Harrisburg, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday the 25th of July 2020. Born in Harrisburg, he was a son of the late Frances (ne Bratina) and Steven Vergot and beloved husband for 62 years of Doris (ne Deckman) who preceded him in death in 2018. Fred graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School where he was a strong student and varsity basketball player. Following graduation, he trained as a plumber and after a few years set up a plumbing business in partnership with Mr Jim Tibbens. Fred continued to run Tibbens and Vergot and work as a plumber into his 70's. His work brought him much satisfaction as he liked solving problems and helping people. Fred was an avid reader of history and enjoyed opera. For many years, he and Doris regularly attended opera productions in New York City and Philadelphia. They also were devoted grandparents and made several trips every year to England to spend time with their grandchildren. Fred is survived by his daughter Denise, sister Matilda Pilsitz, beloved nieces Karen Deibler Wagner and Carol Deibler Depew, brother-in-law Richard Deibler and four grandchildren: Max, Adrian, Constantine and Antonia Holle. In addition to his parents and wife, Fred was predeceased by his sisters Catherine, Margaret, Anne, Josephine, Frances and brothers Joseph, Louis, Mark, George, Frank, Philipp. Fred also will be deeply missed by the Epiphany Lutheran Church community and his many former clients. A memorial service to celebrate Fred's life will be held for family and friends in August.
