Obituary of Jacqueline Bogan
Jacqueline Bogan passed away July 7, 2014 at the age of 88. Jacqueline was born in Eugene, Oregon to Dr. Loran Bogan and Lela Wyland Bogan on February 3, 1926. She attended Eugene public schools. She graduated from the University of Oregon in 1947 with a BS degree and an MS degree in 1959. While at the U of O, she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority and earned a letter on the field hockey team. While not attending classes she spent much time on the ski slopes. Her professional career started with one year in Grants Pass public schools and then moving to Salem where she taught physical education for 5 years. Before moving to teach at the College of Idaho, she attended the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. After six years in Idaho, she moved to Eugene and ended her professional teaching career with 25 years at North Eugene High School. Retirement gave her time to continue skiing, some recreational salmon fishing and building a cabin at the coast. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Maryellen Bogan of Eugene, Oregon; two nieces, Christine Duke of Vancouver, Washington and Kimberlee Fisher of Eugene, Oregon; two nephews, Jack L. Bogan, Jr. of Vancouver, Washington and Robert Bogan of Eugene; numerous great nieces and nephews and her pet dog, Buddy. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
