Obituary of David Chandler

David Truman Chandler, 66, of Eugene, Oregon, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2014, with his wife at his bedside. He fought a long battle against Parkinson’s disease and Lewy Body Dementia.David was born on November, 4, 1947, in Wichita, Kansas, to Barbara and George T. Chandler, the second of four children. He lived in Pratt, Kansas, most of his life. David graduated from Fountain Valley High School in Colorado Springs in 1965, served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972, attended Pratt Community College and Kansas State University, and graduated from Wichita State University in 1975 with a BA in accounting. He joined his father in banking in 1976 and was President of the First National Bank in Pratt from 1986-2002 and CEO from 2002-2008.David is survived by his wife of 44 years, Michele, son Bob and daughter-in-law Stephanie, grandchildren Blake and Sydney, brother Paul and sister-in-law Nilda, sister Barbara, uncle Anderson, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. His parents, son Brian, and older brother Throck, preceded him in death.David had a generous heart, loved life, and leaves a legacy of love for all who knew him. His hobbies included electronics, coin collecting, bird hunting, and computers. His collection of golden oldies records was one of his prized possessions and they were the center of many parties.
