Obituary of Joseph McCall
Joe McCall was born in Eugene, OR on April 18, 1989 and passed away June 27, 2014, peacefully in his sleep. The cause of death is believed to be a previously undetected heart abnormality.Joe attended school in Eugene, beginning with Gilham Grade School, Cal Young Middle School and graduating from Sheldon High School in 2007. While attending Sheldon, Joe was a member of the golf team and was very proud to be on the state championship team in 2005 and 2006. Also while attending Sheldon Joe hosted a “sports talk” radio show on public radio KRVM.After high school, Joe studied business for four years at the U of O then left to join the team at his dad’s business, The RV Corral. He was a quick study and became Operations Manager at the business.An avid Duck fan, Joe was featured at the age of six on a local news program singing the Oregon fight song on the plane to the Cotton Bowl. He has been to every bowl game since.Joe lived an extraordinary life and traveled extensively as a child with his parents. He was able to attend all of his favorite sporting events including the Super Bowl, the World Series, the NCAA Final Four and an NCAA National Championship football game. His most recent conquest was catching an 8’, 145 lb Marlin in Mexico.Joe was a volunteer committee member for the last three years for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He was very proud to be part of the team that raised record donations for the kids this year.Joe is survived by his dad and mom Jerry and Meredith McCall. He also leaves behind his Grandma Margaret Montag, his Uncle Rob and his wife Trish, Aunt Leslie, Aunt Alison and her husband Alex, Aunt Carol, 14 cousins and more friends than we can count.A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 20th at 2:00pm at Matt Knight Arena. Duck attire is encouraged.Joe’s family and many friends will deeply miss his contagious smile, his generous spirit and his ability to create a game out of any situation.
