Obituary of Joyce McGregor

Joyce McGregor passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital, Springfield, OR at 9:45 AM on July 21, 2014, with her daughters by her side.Joyce was born in Davenport, Iowa on May 21, 1936 to Anna Skaredik and Joseph Kauffman. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy, Davenport, IA in 1954 and St. Anthony’s School of Nursing, Rock Island, Illinois, where she earned her RN Degree in 1957. She began her nursing career in Monterey, California and worked at several hospitals in the Quad Cities. Caring for babies and children was her passion in work and in life.In 1959 Joyce married Lawrence ‘Pete’ McGregor in Monterey County, CA, they shared 15 years together. In 1989 Joyce met the ‘love of her life,’ Jim Lowery.Joyce felt her greatest legacy was her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. Her smile lit up the room in their presence. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends as well as her four legged “babies.”Joyce is survived by two daughters, Ann McGregor of Mt. Carmel, PA & Debbie (Bill) McCollum of Veneta, OR; a son, Joseph McGregor of Moline,IL; 7 grand-children, Brian, Jennifer, Cory, Aaron, Elisabeth, Nicholas & Kyle; 8 great grand-children, Kiyah, Kassi, Juniper, Daniel, Gwyneth, Addison, Lilliana & Eli and 3 sisters, Mildred Wilson & Betty Finger of Davenport, IA & Dorothy Weaver of Bettendorf, IA.She was preceded in death by her Parents, her first husband Pete on August 9, 1995 and her loving partner of 25 years, Jim Lowery on May 1, 2014.There will be an inurnment at Oakdale Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa.Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
