Obituary of Vesta Friday

Vesta Friday died at the age of 106 of age related causes. She was born Dec. 7, 1907 in Elkton, OR to Lulu and Robert Hedden. She worked as a clerk in several grocery stores in Springfield and Coos Bay- 11 years as Home Keeper at McKenzie-Willamette Hospital-13 years at The Towne Shoppe in Springfield.She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, anagrams and other games. She also enjoyed walking with “The Willie Whippets”, a walking group at Willamalane Senior Center.She was preceded in death by her husband Howard (Bud) Friday and a daughter Mavis Drew. She is survived by one son J. LeRoy Owings of Springfield, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Cremation will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. No services will be held. Donations may be made to the Willamalane Senior Center. Arrangements entrusted to Springfield Memorial Funeral Home.
