Obituary of Betty (née Sinclair) Beatty
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Betty Beatty on Sunday, June 14, 2020, in her 90th year. Cherished wife of John Beatty for almost 60 years. Loving mother of Joan Shipley (Wayne) and Mark Beatty. Adored grandmother of Dana and Alex Shipley. Dear sister of Vera Gooderharn (late Murray); and sister-in-law of Marian Sinclair O’Connor and Jim Smith (late Doris). Predeceased by her parents Howard and Agnes Sinclair; and her brothers, Jim and Alan Sinclair. Betty will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends, neighbours and former co-workers.
Betty began her career with the Town of Brampton. Later she spent many years at Ford Motor Company and Inco Limited. After moving to London, she worked in manpower scheduling at Kellogg’s until her retirement in 1993. She was recording secretary and one of the founders of K.A.R.A. (Kellogg/AFGM Retirement Association). Betty cherished the many friendships she made at Kellogg’s.
Betty loved to travel and enjoyed cruises, trips to Europe, vacations in Panama City Beach, and bus trips with her sister Vera and son Mark. Betty will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and caring way. She will be greatly missed by so many.
A private family funeral service will be held. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Betty are asked to consider Community Living London or the Lung Health Foundation.
