Obituary of Myrtle Helen Roberts

Myrtle Helen Roberts died on August 28, 2014 at the age of 94. She was born in Bergen, North Dakota on April 11, 1920 to Tillie and Jessie Pederson. She was the eldest of four girls. Myrtle worked for “Ma Bell” in Eugene as a telephone operator for 25 years and was a member of the Pioneers Club of America. She also worked helping her husband manage Roberts’ Lunch and Grill in downtown Eugene. She loved gardening – especially her roses; playing the piano, playing card games, and she was an avid follower of the Oregon Duck football team. She married Carroll C. Roberts in 1947. He passed away in 1985. Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Patricia Sabol and husband, Dan of Eugene; two sisters Thelma Forsythe of Lakeside, CA and Wanda Roebuck of Albany, Oregon and two nieces and one nephew. Her younger sister, Doris Durbin, preceded her in death. True to mom’s nature, she didn’t want people to fuss over her. At her request no service is planned. I will forever remember mom as a loving and kind mother who always put everyone else’s needs before her own. May she always remain in the hearts of all who knew her. In-lieu-of flowers, you may make a donation to your favorite charity. A special “thank you” to the staff at Gateway Gardens and Good Samaritans. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
