James McFarland Edwards, “Farney” was born February 1, 1923 in Eugene Oregon to Marion and Warren Edwards. Farney was a veteran of WWII, he was decorated for his courage and skill in his 50 missions as a tail gunner on a B-24 in the 117th Navy Bomber Squadron in the South Pacific.After his time in the service he became the City Recorder and Municipal judge for the city of Cottage Grove. In June of 1959, he married Patricia Magnusson, and they were married for 55 years.He had a great love of the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also loved sharing stories of his many adventures!In 1976, he and Patty started their own rental company, C & E Rentals. Over the years the company grew through their efforts, loyal employees and valued customers. He had a deep and loving relationship with many of the employees who have remained friends throughout the years.One of his greatest joys was helping friends, families and employees. He was often viewed as “Coach Farney”.Farney was an avid Duck Fan, and loved coaching his grandsons in all their sporting activities. He had a special love for the game of basketball and was often seen coaching his grandson Cesare and teammates from his wheel chair. He was proud to say he never received a technical.His faith and love of our Lord was foremost in his life. He was loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed.He is survived by his wife Patty, daughter Janice, son in-law Scott Bocci, grandsons Alex and Cesare.He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Scott Edwards, sister, Peggy Edwards and brother, John C Edwards.A memorial mass will be held at St Mary's Catholic Church on Thursday, Sept 4th at 12:15pm. Inurnment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Eugene.In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Eugene, Oregon.Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary.
