Obituary of Phil Briggs
Phil W. Briggs, 78, of Eugene, died Saturday, September 6, 2014 of heart failure. He was born on December 7, 1935 in Rockford, WA to Earl and Floretta (Hicks) Briggs. He started his working career at the age of 14 as a cowboy and rodeo rider in South Dakota. He served for three years in the US Army in Schweinfurt Germany where he met and married Juliana Geyer on October 8, 1957. He was the rank of sergeant at the time of his discharge from the military. After his military service, he worked on a ranch in Nebraska then moved to California and worked in the RV business. After moving to Eugene in 1969, he continued to work in the RV business and retired from Joe Romania in 1997. He also worked as an auctioneer for Bill Welch Auctioneering for 15 years. He enjoyed wood working and shooting at the Emerald Empire Gun Club. He is survived by his wife Juliana Briggs of Eugene; a son, David S. Briggs (Sherry) of Eugene; a daughter, Connie F. Endicott (Phill) of Eugene; two sisters, Betty Barnes and Hope Fanning both of Martin, SD; three grandsons, Jason Briggs, Kyle Endicott and Tyler Endicott, all of Eugene and many nephews and nieces.
