Obituary of Burton Sidney Buckle
Born March 7th, 1926 in Montreal, Quebec and died in London, Ontario on August 21st, 2012. Burton was born and spent his early years in NDG, a suburb of Montreal. Shortly after his birth his Father remarked that Burton’s rosy cheeks looked like red apple Buds. The baby grew to be six feet and six inches tall but the nickname stuck. Childhood summers spent on the family farm in the Eastern Townships taught Bud the virtues of hard work and unyielding persistence which served him well throughout life. With a natural interest in people and winning personality, Bud became the consummate Sales Professional. He made his living in the plumbing industry. First with Anaconda American Brass before finishing out his career as Vice President of Sales for Brasscraft, a division of Masco Corporation. In 1991 Bud was awarded Honourary Life Membership in The Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH) “awarded to Senior Executives who have earned the Institute’s highest acclaim by providing outstanding leadership to CIPH and their company.” Bud was a strong athlete participating in many sports and excelling at golf, a pursuit he enjoyed throughout his life. He was a longtime member at both Beaconsfield Golf and Country Club and The London Hunt Club. Bud is survived by his wife Diane and her four children Leslie (Mario), Karen (Paul), Kristen (Alistair) and Cam as well as son Stephen (Andrea) and daughter Susan. The clan has produced 13 grandchildren which made Bud very happy. The memorial service will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, August 24th, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Bud are asked to consider the charity of your choice.
