Obituary of Robert Christian Schmidt

On July 9, 2012, in his 30th year, passed away in Durham, North Carolina after an acute intestinal infection. Beloved husband and soul mate of Elizabeth Moore, daughter of John and Deborah Moore. He will be sadly missed by his mother Pauline, father Werner, and sisters Laura (Scott Palmer) and Allison (Ian O’Neill). Rob will also be missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. An active member of the tennis community, Rob was loved by all he coached. Rob developed a strong love for tennis at an early age. He grew up playing and coaching tennis at the John Hatch Tennis Centre. His love of the sport spread throughout the entire Schmidt family, and followed Rob as he moved to South Korea, Toronto, and North Carolina. Being passionate about education, Rob completed his undergraduate and masters programs in Political Science at the University of Western Ontario and his bachelor of education at the University of Toronto. He had a loving and compassionate soul, and touched the hearts of many throughout his short time on Earth. Memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road, where the service will be conducted on Saturday, July 14th, 2012 at 4:00 p.m.
