Obituary of Ian Stephen (Maj, ret) Banyard

1931 - 2012 Ian passed away at home, family and pets by his side, after a long, heroic battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 19th, 2012. Loving husband to Joanne, beloved father to Jacquie, Rick, Karen and Rob and beloved step-father to Storm and Shelley. Ian was also grandfather to 10 grandchildren and had 13 great-grandchildren. Ian was born in England and served with the RAF before moving to Canada in 1955 to serve with the RCAF. He had a long, outstanding career as a pilot, both military and civilian, traveling to more than 85% of the world’s countries. He had many hobbies and interests including golf, tennis, curling and duplicate bridge. He will be sadly missed by his wife and family. In accordance with Ian’s wishes, there will not be a service. Donations may be made in his name to either the Children’s Wish Foundation or an animal rescue group of your choice.
