Condolences to the family. Chip was a classmate at RRMC and RMC and a co-member of the Royal Roads swim team. Chip was unbeatable in the backstroke. Our coach was Drill Seargent Jones, the ex-coach of the Canadian Empire Games swim team. Sgt. Jones would walk up and down the side of the pool, bellowing out orders at us like he did to the recruit class on the drill square. One day we had had enough. We got out, picked him up and threw him in. That's how we learned that he could actually swim. At RMC, Chip had access to a big car from time to time. With a small group of friends we would drive to Alexandria Bay, NY, to have a couple of drinks in a bar. In Canada we were below the drinking age, which was 21 at the time, but in New York we were legal and felt like big shots. Chip was always on the go, whether it was proposing a great deal on a car, or going to the Ceeps (CP Hotel Pub) in London. He was a great friend and will be dearly missed.
