Obituary of Charles Edwin Booth Cavanagh

Passed away peacefully on 30 March 2012 at University Hospital, London, Ontario in his 96th year. Beloved husband of the late June Cavanagh (1988). Dear father of Ted, Marg McLaughlin and Paul (with his wife Amy Lee). Proud granddad of Gaelen Andrew Winter Cavanagh and Samuel Charles Angus McLaughlin. Fond brother-in-law of Jean Cavanagh and uncle of Mike Cavanagh and Anne Simpson. Great Uncle to Suzan Cavanagh and Nicholas Simpson. Charles will be fondly remembered by friends and family in both Canada and England. Charles was born in London, England, served in the RAF during WWII, then emigrated to Montreal in the 1950s with his family, where he worked for Air Canada until his retirement in 1977. He was a long-time resident of the Sawmill Creek Housing Co-op in Ottawa, a former member of the Metcalfe Golf Club and an active participant of the Heron Road Seniors Centre Atelier. Friends are invited to visit at St Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway), Ottawa on Thursday, 5 April 2012 from 10:30 a.m. until time of the service in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. Reception to follow. Family interment, Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Charles are asked to consider Hospice Palliative Care Ontario, 2 Carlton Street, Suite 707, Toronto, Ontario, M5B 1J3. A separate memorial will be held in London, Ontario at a later date.
