Jane Dale posted a condolence
Wow, this is harder than I thought . . . to lose a loved one and see in all the time it has taken me to find out how to connect with the funeral home there handling her death and see that there are no condolences. Aunt Gwen was dearly love and prayed for. With me living outside of Canada for over 40 years I didn't see her often but when I did . . . such a kind gracious aunty. I wish I knew who the family was that was with her at the end and I wish I could talk with them but God knows all that. I just wanted to have it somewhere that her blood family is feeling the loss in this world but praying the gain in the heavenly kingdom is greater because of her leaving her earthy tent. My thanks and love to all those who were family to her in London. sincerely with much love Jane

It is with heartfelt love that Joy and I and our families join those sending prayers and thoughts at this time on behalf of Auntie Gwen. What a genuine lady!!! As little girls, Auntie Gwen always seemed like royalty to us, and in turn, she always treated us like little princesses!! The stories we have heard of Auntie Gwen growing up with our dad have often amused Joy and I, as it was clear Auntie Gwen often was "motherly" towards our dad, and their love for one another has stayed constant over the years, especially through phone calls in these later years as dad's health has been failing. I know that Auntie Gwen had held a very special place in dad's heart, and because of that, in ours as well. I know we did not have the opportunity to visit often, but the exchange of Christmas Cards and warm wishes every year have all been kept and will continue to be cherished! Thank you to those who have been close at hand to be such a support and to love Auntie Gwen. Your care and love not only meant a lot to her, I know, but to us as well. Sending all our love and prayers, Japhia, John & Daniel Scott, Joy, Gord and Christopher Brown.

On behalf of my father Bill Smith and my brothers Bill and Jim Smith, I would like to extend our condolences on the loss of Mrs. Coulter. Both Mr and Mrs Coulter were such great friends of my Mom ( Marjorie) and my Dad. Many a night was spent around our dining room table on Huron Street enjoying a fabulous meal and lively conversation that would carry on long into the evening either out on the porch, in the living room or downstairs in the 19th hole. Mrs Coulter was a great bridge player and despite many attempts to teach me how to play bridge, it was far more entertaining for me to watch and listen to the ladies as they bid and trumped and laughed, again, into the wee hours of the morning. Mrs Coulter was a true lady and we will always remember her for her kindness and her interest in our lives as we were growing up. I can only imagine the giggles and the stories as Mom and Mrs. Coulter catch up over a great game of bridge in heaven. Our love and prayers to her family. Sincerely, Leslie Smith

Victoria Millman posted a condolence
For those that don't already know, Gwen's three goddaughters (of over 50 years) were by her side for the couple of weeks through her illness & passing. Myself being the main caregiver since Uncle Bev's passing in 2003 am glad to have had my sisters (Kathy Wands & Jennifer Glassford) as support over the years and especially in the last few weeks. Auntie Gwen will be missed by her other godchild John Glassford and the other two siblings Debbie Gibson & Paul Glassford. My parents Marg & Jack Glassford are sad to see the end of a 62 year friendship. Gwen was considered an Aunt to all our family including fourteen nieces & nephews who enjoyed her singing at Christmas and dancing at their weddings. Gwen had a long life & enjoyed it to the fullest. She always said we live too long, as she had outlived most of her friends, but now we hope she will reunite with them in her usual style & grace.
