Obituary of Carol Jean Hawkins

Carol Jean Hawkins, 82, passed away August 16th, at RiverBend Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. She succumbed to a brain hemorrhage and now is with our dad, HB Hawkins who passed away July, 2010. Our Mom was born May 18, 1932 in Portland, Oregon to Ray and Rose Williams. She graduated from Gresham High School and married her high school sweetheart, HB, August 26th 1950. They soon began their family of 3 daughters: Cheryle Hawkins, (Michael), Karen Lillengreen, (Dan) and Teri Brett Hawkins. In 1961 they moved from Portland to Eugene. Mom lived a full life of involvement with dad, joining the Eugene Jaycee-ettes, working at Obie Outdoor Advertising, and in 1977, becoming an owner-operator of Lane County Feed and Seed at 5th & Olive. She and dad shared countless friendships with many people throughout Lane County and the Portland area. When they retired in 1994, they began hosting large family camping trips at Prineville Reservoir each summer. As their 6 grandkids grew up and married, Mom and Dad were excited to welcome more family members. Amy (Shane), Dena (Kevin), Adam (Heather), Erik (Deborah), John (Mayren), and Stevie (Amber) blessed them with 11 great grandchildren, and 2 blended families of 9. Mom always kept a toy box for her and dad’s little loved ones. Her favorite hobbies were browsing secondhand stores and garage sales, listening to her police scanner, and gardening in her yard.
