Obituary of Jean Fung
Jean King Chu Fung, daughter of Yuek Su and Jack Chu, after a brief illness died on October 2, 2014 at the age of 86 surrounded by family and friends.This beloved and highly devoted mother was preceded in death by her husband Ken Sher Fung in June 1997. She is survived by a daughter Amy and son-in-law Peter, a son Kennedy Fung and daughter-in-law Yenny Hioe-Fung, a daughter Dorothy Reed and son-in-law Kevin Reed all of Eugene, a son Henry Fung of San Francisco, a granddaughter Sophi Chan-Brown and husband Karl Chan-Brown of Seattle, a granddaughter Jennifer Chan of Beaverton, a granddaughter Sarah of Eugene, a sister Mai Li Lum of Montebello, a niece Mary Lum of Los Angeles, a nephew Danny Lum of Diamond Bar, and step grandchildren Tyler Reed and Lindsay Reed of Springfield.Born in Canton, China on March 25, 1928, Jean survived war torn China and came to the United States to successfully establish her family in a newly adopted country where she became a citizen. With her husband Ken who worked as a chef at Leslie's Mandarin Chinese Restaurant they raised four children and prospered. She loved Eugene and resided there for over 51 years. Her life's enjoyment included playing Mahjong with friends, watching her favorite Chinese videos, cooking and eating Chinese food especially dim sum, travel, shopping, music and dancing, relaxing at River Road Park, and spending time with her children and their families.A viewing will be held Oct. 9, 5-7 PM at Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene, and funeral service on Oct. 10, 2 PM at Rest Haven Memorial Park with reception to follow at River Road Park Annex, 1055 River Road.
