Obituary of Konstantinos Margalias
MARGALIAS, Konstantinos (Gus) – Was taken much too soon on August 2nd, 2011 at Victoria Hospital with his loving family close by. Beloved husband of Marie of 40 years. Deeply loved by his children: son George and his wife Koula, and grandson and namesake Konstantinos; daughter Harriet and her husband Keith Sauve and granddaughter Melina. Survived by siblings in Greece, Spiros Margalias and Ioanna Karakitsos, and in Canada, Maria Groubos, Penelopi and her husband Peter Petropoulos. Deeply loved and missed by many nieces and nephews, Vicky, Nick and Dimitri Manias, Bill Groubos, Helen Petropoulos, Nick, Krissie, Peter and Ava Petropoulos. Predeceased by his parents Yioryios and Hariklia and by his siblings Antonios and Efthemios Margalias and brother-in-law Evangelos Groubos. Gus was born in Greece, adventured to Canada in 1960 as a young man. Gus worked as a chef and he spent his retired years swimming at the YMCA, riding his bike, going to the Public Library and spending time with his family and friends. Gus’s contagious smile and zest for life was always with him. Gus will be sadly missed by his entire family and so many friends. Visitation will be held at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Sunday, August 7th, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. with prayers at 8:30 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Road West, on Monday, August 8th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Elias Drossos officiating. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Gus are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
