Obituary of David Culbertson

Dave was born in McAlester, Oklahoma to Jack Dwight and Edith Mildred Culbertson. He attended Eugene schools, graduating from South Eugene H.S. in 1960. Dave attended Oregon State University and received a BS in Business from Southern Oregon College in Ashland. Dave served in Germany with the U.S. Army. He married Susan Thrapp in 1965, they later divorced. Kathleen Parsley was Dave’s life partner for many years, she passed away in 2013.After returning from military service Dave re-entered his lifetime career in the heavy construction industry as a supervisor and cost estimator. He was an expert in his field and was well respected for his knowledge in road building and rock crushing. He retired from Nordic Industries of Olivehurst, California in 2011. After retirement he and Kathy made their home in Lehi, Utah.During his career Dave worked extensively across the Western United States and shared great pride in traveling over highways he had a hand in constructing. One of Dave’s passions was his love for Oklahoma Sooner football. Dave and Kathy attended many football games and several national championship bowls. He was interested in aviation and delighted in watching air shows.He is survived by two children, Manda Culbertson Box of Seattle, Darren Culbertson of Yelm, WA, his brother Gordon Culbertson of Eugene, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild.Dave died of natural causes in Winnemucca, Nevada. A service will be held on Wednesday October 15, 2014, 1:00 PM, at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene.In Dave’s memory contributions may be directed to the OSU Foundation, 850 SW 35th St, Corvallis, OR 97333 for the R.L.
