Obituary of Isobel Carol Carew

Carew, Isobel Carol April 14th, 2010 CAREW, Isobel Carol – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Isobel Carew (nee Philps), peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 14th, 2010. Wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and guardian angel to a very large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by her parents Warren and Alice (Kellestine) Philps. Loving wife of Gary. Dear mother of Lori (Bob) Lawson, Mike (Amy) and Chris. Much loved grandmother of Allysicia, Sarah, Kyle, Nicole and Shawna. Cherished sister of Marjory Belrose, Helen Gough, Emily Butler and Kate Hiscox. Lovingly remembered by Karen & Gerry, Curtis and Marshal. Adored by her many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Isobel was born in Longwood, Ontario and grew up surrounded by the love of her parents and sisters on the family farm. She followed her passion for the rural life to shape her enduring career as an editor for the Western Ontario Farm News, in which she established life-long friendships into her retirement. Isobel's one true passion was her family. Her love and support was endless and knew no boundaries. Her spirit will continue to guide us and we will long remember her as a family treasure. We are grateful for the care received from Dr. Akira Sugimoto and the medical team at the London Health Sciences Centre; Dr. Maria Parent and the home care palliative care team; and Dr. Christopher Leung, all who provided hope, dignity and care for Isobel's wishes. Friends and family will be received at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Friday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. where the memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will follow. Donations in remembrance may be made to the Make-a-Wish Foundation (SWO) (www.makeawishswo.org) or the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca).
