Murray was good and kind and caring; he was all the things you hope to find in a friend. Humour infused his very being, his sharp wit a joy. Every memory of him I will cherish, for every one was positive and every one reflected his deep regard for others. I think, mostly, I shall miss his hearty chuckle; his expressive way of relating to the world around him; his intelligence and honesty. To Murray's family and close friends, and to dear, dear Shirley, I offer my sympathies at your loss. Because Murray has enriched all our lives, we shall celebrate his through our memories, and he will be with us, always.

Dear Shirley, I am so, so sad to hear of Murray's passing. I can't believe it. I was still looking forward to getting to know Murray much better - such an interesting person, and maybe even a cousin. Mary and Brian will miss him terribly. Please know that God loves Murray even more than you do, is there grieving with you and ministering to you, and will be. We share your sadness Shirley. 28 years is huge. Love from Sally Gray

We are saddened by Murray’s passing and wish to express our deepest sympathy to Shirley, and the cats, Stanlee, Marnie, and to Murray’s sister, brothers and all the Armstrong family. There is only one computer word that I can think off that sums up our good friend Murray and that is “WYSIWYGâ€--what you see is what you get. Murray and I worked on numerous projects together, shared stories of our wives, our kids the cats, and a fascination of history. We will miss Murray’s, humour, smile, honesty and compassion.

The Arnold family will miss Murray more than words can say. Shirley and Murray have been our close friends for many years - often more like family to us. When things were good, Murray was there to celebrate with us and when things were bad, Murray was there there to support us as was Shirley. Murray taught our kids to ride their bikes and was always interested in their lives - their struggles, their accomplishments. We shared many meals together and perhaps a few glasses of wine over the years. We have been blessed to have Murray in our lives and we are sad to lose him so soon. Friends like this don't come along every day - thank you for the friendship we have shared. Shirley - you know that no matter what, all five of us are always here for you and always will be. We love you both.

Shirley - I am so sad to hear that Murray has passed. I cannot express how much I wish I were able to make the trip to see you. However, I am sure you will be in loving company. Murray and yourself were there when I really needed you and became my "London mom and dad". I will never forget how much you both cared. My prayers are with you and I'll get you the hug as soon as I can....Love you both.
