It was a privelege for me to work alongside Janet for many years teaching ESL. She was a wonderful mentor, colleague and friend. I remember many times asking her for both personal and professional advice and she always gave it from the heart. When I left Banting Annex in 2008 where we were last teaching together, I was disappointed to not work closely with Janet anymore. Fortunately, we kept in touch and I dropped in at the Annex from time to time to share vacation photos and family news. My fondest memory is paying her a visit at her home last summer to show her the photos from our family trip out west. We had tea, cookies and a nice chat about travelling and ESL news. It is very sad for me to realize now that she is gone. She will be greatly missed by everyone in ESL who was lucky to know her. The students will also be heartbroken to hear their special teacher won't be coming back. I will always carry lovely memories of Janet and admiration for her courage throughout her battle with cancer. My deepest sympathies go to her loving family.

Janet, I worked with you for many, many years. Your laughter, joy and enthusiasm validated my world. I will miss you, and all those I teach with have lost a wonderful colleague and a beautiful human being. I know that you left this place, still full of wonder.

I remember Janet as she came into my office to inquire about teaching English as a Second Language to adults. In discussing the opportunities available, Janet's commitment to excellence was most evident and became a reality and a bonus for the Thames Valley School Board. She touched many lives, those of students, volunteers, teachers and the community. Whenever I would see herduring the past few years, I always admired her courage and strength as she persevered with her battle of cancer. My condolences to the family and may her memory continue to be in our hearts.

I will remember Janet's strength of character and her love of teaching ESL. In the years of working with Janet I grew to know her and admire her accomplishments. She was an excellent teacher who brought out the best in her students and was always ready to go that extra mile for them. Cherish all your fond memories of Janet as will I.

To Winnie and family ... I am saddened to read of Janet's passing. I went to school with Janet - fom Hyde Park Public School through Medway High School and UWO. We had good times in those years. I admired her greatly when she went to Cape Dorset to teach and am pleased to hear that she found her niche here in the south teaching ESL. It has been a while since our paths have crossed but, nonetheless, I feel her loss. I know that my sister Nancy joins me in sending sincere condolences to all the family.

I am so so sad to hear of Janet’s passing. Janet and I first met as teachers in the late 70’s in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Living next to each other over those years, allowed us to share many wonderful northern experiences and fun times. As a teacher, Janet’s dedication and commitment to her students and profession were always the main priority. As a friend, her enthusiasm, energy and positive nature were always a constant. No matter how time and distance have separated us over the past decades, we always continued to communicate on our respective birthdays. I will miss you dearly, my friend!
