You do not know me, but my father became a resident at Forest Heights in March. I first met your mum in the t.v. room when she entered while the residents were playing a game of beach ball volleyball. She was telling everyone that they needed to stop playing ball in the house. "Give me that ball and stop playing inside." "You'll break something." "Get down off that cupboard before you fall." "Someone is going to get hurt!" I saw her in the halls, always with a comment about children, their play and their safety. She made me think of myself as a newly retired primary teacher. I was told that she also worked with children. I took pleasure in seeing her at the home. I was greatly saddened to hear of your loss. My condolences go to you and your family at this time. I am sure you have many wonderful memories to help you heal at this time. Thank you for letting me share a small moment about Marjorie. Valerie

Nana, was an exceptional woman who cared for my boys like they were her own. One of favourate stories to retell about Nana started with a very hectic day when I had a meeting after work and my husband was to pick up our oldest son from school to and take to baseball and our two year old from Nanas. Well he remembered our oldest but thought I was going to Nanas. When I got home around 8pm and walked into the house my husband and son were sitting in the kitchen and looking at me asked where was Matthew. I quickly called Nana who laughed when she answered and informed me that my son had a great dinner and bath and now was peacefully sleeping and that she would see me tomorrow. I not proud that we "forgot" our son at daycare but I knew he was in very loving and caring hands when he was at Nanas. Nana was a part of our daily life for 9 years but has been in our hearts for 22 years, that is how old my son is now who Nana started caring for when he was just 4 months old. We are all sadden by her passing and will keep her in our prayers. Our deepest sympathy and love Darla, Moe, Andrew & Matthew Hexter

Our lives were blessed when Nana entered them...she had a hand in raising all four of our children. We were always so proud of the way she instilled the virtues of proper manners, love of animals, respect for each other, family values and time together. We will miss her kind smile, quick wit and loving ways. I'm sure she is smiling upon us all. She will be truly missed.

Nana was our neighbour as well as our two children's day care provider for over nine years. There was never a time that I worried about the kids as I knew they were well fed (sometimes better that at home!!), were taught manners, compassion, how to help the younger kids, and great crafts. Every Mothers Day and Father's Day, Christmas, Easter they would come home with gifts they had made for Rob and I. Birthdays were never forgotten. After both kids had "graduated" from Nana's we would stop by to see her and she always had postitve things to say to the kids. I believe that Nana instilled in both Celia and Andrew, a desire to learn, be creative, and love those around you. We are so sorry to hear of Nana's passing but know that she is looking down on all the children that passed through her door with love and a smile. Rob, Karen, Celia and Andrew Kirk
