Obituary of Carol von Morpurgo

Carol von Morpurgo passed away on October 18, 2014 at the age of 103. She had lived in Eugene for about 10 years. She was born November 20, 1910 in San Francisco, California to Irving Howard Sanborn and Bessie Pennington Sanborn. She was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority at the University of California at Berkley where she graduated in 1932. She was a member of the Junior League of Oakland, California until her death. She was married to the late Henry von Morpurgo in December, 1935 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oakland. She and her husband lived in their family home in Piedmont, California for 50 years. They moved to Baker City in August , 1992, where they built a new home to live closer to family. She moved to Pendleton , Oregon in 1998, to Meacham in 2000 and to Eugene in 2005. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia von Morpurgo and her two sisters, Dorothy Harris and Betty Seidel. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Liz) Halley and son-in-law John (Jack) Halley and her grandchildren : Matthew Reiley and his wife , Nora Pencola, Sean Reiley; and Samantha Kumm and her husband, Austin Kumm. She has two great-grandchildren, Zoe Reiley and Beau Kumm. At her request there will be no funeral. Inurnment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland California.
