Dear Michael and Mahood family. Words can not express our shock and sadness learning of the loss of Michelle. Michelle truly did leave a little sparkle everywhere she went. We have nothing but fond memories of our work and fun experiences with Michelle over the years, she was nothing but a positive light in this world. Anyone that had the pleasure to know Michelle would say the same thing. Michelle's positive, happy attitude was infectious and it was always a pleasure to be in her presence. My deepest condolences to the Mahood family. "Sparkle" is indeed the perfect word to describe Michelle - it was in her eyes, her smile, and her laugh. As I said to Theresa the other day, Michelle left an imprint on my heart. When I think of Michelle I think of the prettiest flowers you can imagine - I will be adding a special peony plant to my garden in her honor, and I will smile as I think of her.

Mike and the Mahood family, we send our deepest condolences as we all grieve the loss of Michelle. To know Michelle,, was to love her. She definitely spread her sparkle on all who knew her. We will all cherish the memories. Our thoughts are with you all. Rest in peace Michelle. Love, Cyril, Lana, Sara & Laura.

My deepest condolences to Michael and the entire Mahood family. Michelle was the first person I met when I moved into residence at the University of Windsor and for the next 4 years, we were either floor mates or housemates. I treasure the time I spent with her in Windsor...we laughed a lot, we cried, we had more fun than would seem humanly possible. She was a big part of my University days. I am so thankful that we reconnected in London several years ago and had a chance to reminisce about "the good old days" and share a really big hug. I am deeply saddened by her loss and not surprised at all to know that she made such a powerful mark on this world. Rest in peace my sweet friend. xo

My heartfelt condolences to Michael & the Mahood family. I first met Michelle when we both worked in Admitting at St. Joe's. She was sweet, kind & caring. She definitely had that sparkle that others have commented on. My hobby is Photography & over the years I would take photos at work gatherings such as Birthdays, Christmas, Michelle's Party as she moved from Admitting into another position at St. Joe's. I have wonderful photos from her party, these are memories to treasure. I remember her emails to her colleagues in Admitting saying how hard it was to leave her "home" for many years, truly felt from her heart. I was so sad to hear of her tragic loss. Michelle was a positive influence on those around her & I for one am grateful to have known her.

The world has lost a bright light in the tragic passing of Michelle. While I have known her for many years it is the last seven since I assumed the role of Medical Director of the Roth McFarlane Hand and Upper Limb Centre that I came to appreciate what a true gem of a person she was. I worked with her closely on many projects and was always impressed by her calmness, perseverance, intellect and sense of purpose. When decisions were difficult the patient was always the most important consideration in the end. She was a true patient advocate. Even when decisions did not go as I may have preferred, I always felt listened too and my opinions valued. Michelle was a true team builder and it was an honour to have worked with her. She taught me much about leading and listening. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Graham King

I am heartbroken for Michelle's family. What a tragic loss for her loved ones and for our community. As Michelle's colleague, I will remember her as tenaciously championing the voice of patients and family care-givers; striving for health equity for people who experience barriers and finding positive lessons in challenges as they arose. I learned from her perspectives and she often challenged me to pause and consider an issue from a different angle. While I have only worked with her for a couple of years, I also have memories of Michelle and I playing together as little girls at St. Joseph's departmental picnics - her Mom and my Dad were colleagues. Rest in Peace, Michelle. Your memory and legacy will be lasting.

My heartfelt sorrow for your loss of Michelle. I met Michelle in late November when I started at SJHC. From my first meeting, she was extraordinary in her professionalism and depth of understanding healthcare, her ready willingness to teach me about it, compassion for patients and she always wanted to start the conversation with “how are you and the animals†(we have a mix of household and barnyard friends). With COVID we began to meet more frequently during the week and her work was ever more demanding. She always met the challenge with optimism, a firm hand about policy and perspective and a willingness as a leader to appreciate all opinions to weather these extraordinary circumstances. In our careers sometimes we are lucky enough to work with a few true gems. Michelle was one of them and she will be missed.

Although we never knew Michelle, by the many tributes you can see she was so loved, so respected and such a special gift to her family, friends and community. She will be greatly missed! May God surround you all with His love and strength as you cherish her memories. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

We were so very sorry to hear of your tragic loss. Michelle was such a delightful young lady and the Pugh family has many happy memories of Michelle spending time at our house swimming in our pool. Hockey tournaments were happy times for the Mahood children and the Pugh children as they played together while their dads were playing hockey. Again, we are all so very sorry to hear of Michelle's passing.

My thoughts and prayers to all of you who will miss Michelle. I worked with her for many years, and she 'is' the most gracious and generous of heart person I have known. She always speaks well of people, has a creative idea and re-framing of a challenge, is a thoughtful planner, and included everyone. She is a beautiful person, a smile that lit up a space and sparkles as so many people have said... and when she needed to be a bit tough -- she demonstrates 'grit' and deep caring and intention for good things to happen. She demonstrated incredible and caring leadership and passion for the 'right thing'. She leaves an indelible imprint on so many people. Peace to you Michelle and to all who loved you.

Michelle was quite simply one of the world's lovely people. There are few like Michelle - her warmth, wisdom, genuine kindness and compassion, devotion to patients, families and colleagues, generosity of spirit, and yes, that r indelible sparkle, are unparalleled. In every encounter with Michelle, I knew I would learn something - from the way she looked at every problem, her thoughtful approach to solutions, and how she unfailingly encircled what mattered most each and every time. Her impact as a colleague and a leader was profound and will be greatly missed across St. Joseph's. At the same time, Michelle's inner joy radiated. This was the essence of Michelle. My heart goes out to Michael and all members of Michelle's family. Dahlia Reich

My deepest condolences to Michael, and to Michelle's family. Michelle was my boss for several years, and in that time she taught me so much about compassion and respect. I considered her to be my mentor, and I will never forget all of our talks about books, music and our passions. Michelle, I hope that wherever you are, that you are surrounded by beauty and flowers. Thank you for the impact you made on my life. I will never forget you, and I will be forever grateful for the time I was able to spend with you. I miss you so much.

To dearest Michael and the Mahood family, I can not fathom how you are feeling right now. That quote by Kate Spade is perfect, Michelle always had that sparkle, and she left it on everyone she met, including me. We hadn't seen each other in many years, but stayed in touch. Whenever we talked, the years melted away, and we went back in time 30 years, remembering our adventures in the early 90s and giggling like mad women! I know you have so many wonderful memories, she was a memory maker. I hope they give you strength in the coming days. I know she will be looking after you all. With much love, Paula Straus-Sanderson and family xo

Theresa, Jamie, Grace & Liam - To know Michelle was to love Michelle. She was a vibrant, caring person who had a wonderful sense of humour. It was so evident how much she loved you all. She was visibly proud of you. You could see how she would light up when she saw any one of you. Michelle is a person who was a friend, our friend. We may have only been together a handful of times, but when around her it felt like we had seen each other frequently. Like we had been friends for years, which I suppose in some ways, we have. We would often comment after seeing her about how we just loved Michelle, and could go hang out any time with her. She was warm, witty, and such a joy to be around. We are grateful to have spent time with her when our paths did cross. This is a tremendous loss to your family. Words can’t touch this. We are full of sadness and disbelief. Please know our hearts are with you as you move through your time of sorrow. She will forever be thought of. Much love: Jess, Andrew, Gabe, Joel and Sarah Damen

I felt such sadness when I found out about Michelle's sudden passing. I began working with Michelle 25 years ago in Admitting and instantly felt a connection with her warm heart. We shared a love for Border Collies and kittens. I had transferred to the Parkwood site and after 10 years came back to Grosvenor. When I seen Michelle after all those years, she gave me the biggest hug and said, "welcome back home (to Grosvenor)". It was like I never had left! Her warm smile and cheerfulness is forever etched in my memory. Today's world needs more angels like Michelle. May God bless all her loved ones with healing.
