Obituary of John Herbert “Mitch†Mitchell
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family at home, on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, in his 77th year, with the assistance of Dr. Jim MacLean. John “Mitch” will be deeply missed by his daughter Diane, brother Bryan (Peter), sister-in-law Sharon and niece Jana Mitchell. John was predeceased by his wife Cathy (2013), and son David (2012). John grew up in Paisley, Ontario and spent 3 years in the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals with the Canadian Armed Forces before beginning his career as a member of the founding computer team at London Life. During this time, John volunteered to introduce computers into the curriculum of the London elementary school system. After retirement, John and Cathy moved to Goderich and enjoyed many years contributing to the social life at Meneset Park. Returning to London, John and Cathy enjoyed leading bus tours throughout North America. In recent years, John loved volunteering at the LHSC - University Campus. His kindness and outstanding sense of humour will be sadly missed. The family would like to thank the oncology and palliative teams at LHSC, and specifically, Dr. Jim MacLean for his exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of John are asked to consider the London Regional Cancer Program or The Terry Fox Foundation.
