Obituary of Ella Mae Moorehead

Ella Mae Moorehead of Junction City, Oregon died on October 14, 2014, of natural causes.She was born Ella Mae Deoneseus on July 21, 1922, in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin to William John Deoneseus and Anita McClellen Deoneseus. She married George Moorehead on October 6, 1945, in Oconomowoc. After living in Nashville, TN and El Monte, CA they moved to Junction City in 1956. George passed on December 25, 2000.Ella Mae worked as a homemaker and community volunteer. Some of her volunteer work included St. Helen Parish, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, PTA Viking Sal Senior Center, St. Helen Altar Society, Scandinavian Festival, OSU Mom's, OSU Extension, Friends of Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, Camp Hosting for Oregon State Parks, and was an initial Great Grad Night organizer.Ella Mae received the 2010 Volunteer of the Year award from Viking Sal Senior Center for extraordinary dedication. Ella Mae also received the Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement award in 2010 for 50+ years of service to the Junction City area.She enjoyed gardening, camping, sightseeing, oil painting, poker, Duck football and especially her 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.Survivors include:· Son George W. Moorehead and his wife, Janice of Gig Harbor, WA, his son Christopher and his wife, Lisa, and granddaughters Brooke and Hannah.· Son David Moorehead and his wife Rebecca of Midland, TX, his daughter Mary and her husband Steve.· Daughter Kathleen Furrer of Junction City, OR and her sons Richard and Michael.· Daughter Maureen Smith of Albuquerque, NM and her children Stephanie, Justin, Kristal and Samantha.Granddaughter Sarah Beth Moorehead (daughter of David and Rebecca) preceded her in death.Donations may be made to Viking Sal Senior Center, 245 W 5th Avenue, Junction City, OR 97448.Arrangements entrusted to Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home.
