DEAR SUSAN, PRICE AND MARY,
I AM PRETTY SURE YOU WON'T REMEMBER ME; MAY NAME IS CAROL MASON. MY HUSBAND, BUD, WAS GENE'S FIRST COUSIN. WE HAD THE PLEASURE OF VISITING YOU SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LATE 70'S. YOU AND GENE WERE SO GRACIOUS TO BUD AND ME. OUR KIDS PLAYED TOGETHER ON THE FARM (WE ONLY HAD 2 THEN) MAUREEN AND ELLEN, LATER KATIE AND BUD JR. IN 1979 & 1980. THEY WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT THEIR DAD'S FAMILY; I REMEMBERED THAT GENE WORKED AT BARD COLLEGE AND THAT LED ME TO...

I took two or three classes from Doctor Mason at the University of Kentucky in the late 1960s. The best Professor I ever had. A neat guy. I remember his campaign for Congress when he was set up. What you say but not enough room here. I remember his wife being with him a couple of times on campus. Very very beautiful. Steve imhoff Louisville Kentucky.

Gene,
You led quite a life!
Here are two of my favorite memories of you. The first one is from when I visited your place at Bard for a few days one summer and did some work around the farm. When it came time to get paid, you asked me if I wanted to flip a coin for it. I said yes, you pulled a big old silver dollar out of your pocket, flipped it, and I didn't get paid that day. The second is from a couple of years later at one of the Flerons' famous Kentucky Derby...

Terribly sorry to hear of Gene's passing. Deepest condolences to Susan, Mary and Price.
As I recently told Mary, I will never forget him and the great encounters we had while I was at Bard; he had a way of looking right into the middle of a person.
