Obituary of Elaine Berntzen

Elaine was born to Fritz and Hanna Christensen on the family farm near Easton, California. She married Richard Keller in 1944. Richard died in 1949. Elaine then married Lewis Berntzen in 1950 and moved to Eugene, Oregon. Lewis died in 1973. Elaine was the first teacher hired at Fairfield Elementary School. She taught in the Bethel School District for many years. After retirement, she volunteered with the SMART program, reading to children. Survivors include sons Brian Bernzten of Green Valley, Arizona and Leland Keller of Cottage Grove, Oregon. Elaine had a special place in her heart for her granddaughter Jaci Knittle and great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Giselle, and Jackson. The memorial service will be at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Eugene on November 6th at 11:00am with a luncheon to follow in the Parrish hall. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
