Obituary of William Cooley

William H. “Bill” Cooley of Eugene died October 25, 2014 at the age of 93. He was born September 5, 1921 in Portland, OR to Harry and Margaret (Chittester) Cooley.He graduated from Milwaukie High School in 1939 and received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon in 1951. He served in the Army Infantry Medical Detachment from 1940 to 1945.He married Shirley J. Morrison in Portland on June 15, 1946. He worked for Trus Joist Corporation for many years. Bill loved sailing, golf and travel. He is a member of the Eugene Yacht Club and he was a Past Active Life Member of the Eugene Active 20/30 Club.Besides his wife, he is survived by four children: Lee Cooley of Mt. Vernon, WA; Janice Gettling of Portland, OR; Neal Cooley of Airlie Beach, Queensland, Australia; Ross Cooley of Eugene and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Peg Cooley.An Open House will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Saturday November 8, 2014 at 1773 Happy Lane, Eugene (enter from Goodpasture Island Road).
