Obituary of Marilyn Parrish
Marilyn Parrish , 77, died from many health issues on November 13, 2014 at her home in Springfield, OR with family and her beloved dog, Tanner, by her side and assisted by Sacred Heart Hospice. She was born February 1, 1937 to John and Pauline Payne in North Platte, NE. The family moved to Yoncalla, OR in 1946.Our precious mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, cousin and friend was an excellent cook! She made the best lemon pie ever! Having worked at the Casa Tol Tec Restaurant for a number of years, she also made the best Mexican food among many other family favorites. As a younger person she went dancing at the Embers as often as possible as dancing was an activity she truly loved. She and her husband, Perk Parrish, greatly enjoyed singing and performing with the Sharps and Flats, delighting nursing home residents and other audiences!Marilyn moved to and worked in Rapid City, SD for several years before returning to Oregon. She and her former husband, Lyle DeLaunay, fostered a number of children while they lived in Coos Bay, OR where they adopted Tony DeLaunay as an infant. Marilyn worked for 23 years in food service at Sacred Heart Hospital where she made many dear friends.Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband Perk Parrish, a brother, Darrell Payne and a grandson, Damien.Marilyn is survived by her four children: Michelle (Brian) Bryan, Kimberlee (Loren) Olson, Tony (Ann) DeLaunay and LaRae Kief, 3 step-children; 8 grand children, 8 great grandchildren, step grandchildren and greats; a brother, Dale Payne of Stayton, two sisters, Radine Rychard of Yoncalla and Vivian Nash of Eugene, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.A private service will be held at a later date.
