Obituary of Beth McManus

Beth McManus, of Eugene, died peacefully Wed., Dec 3, 2014 after a recent hospitalization. She was 91.She was born May 8, 1923 in Urbana, IL and grew up in Milwaukee, WI. She received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northwestern University, where she met her husband, John McManus. They were happily married for 66 years until his death in 2010.Beth taught elementary music in Klamath Falls and, after raising three children, worked as undergraduate secretary at the University of Oregon School of Music. She was an avid gardener, a great cook, an accomplished piano player and, for many years, a member of her church choir. She often provided piano accompaniment for John's clarinet students during recitals and solo contests. Beth was also a long-time member of PEO, a philanthropic organization involved in several local causes.She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Ann and Dean Larson; son and daughter-in-law Ed and Kim McManus; daughter Kathy McManus and grandchildren Jeff, Karin, Hunter and Emma.Contributions may be made to The Nature Conservancy or a charity of your choice.Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
