Obituary of Earl Strand

Earl E. Strand, age 94, passed away peacefully on December 5, with his loved ones at his side. He was born the seventh of nine siblings to Enevold and Esther Strand in Ambrose, North Dakota on November 26, 1920. Earl married Marie Joyce Storhaug, his high school sweetheart, in Seattle, Washington in 1942 as she was finishing Nursing School. He graduated from Griffin Business College in Seattle. During WWII, Earl served in the U. S. Navy Air Corps as an Aviation Machinist Mate 3rd Class and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He retired from the Eugene School District #4J after 20 years of service. Earl is survived by Marie, his wife of 72 years; daughter Mary Jane Bennett (Stephen), granddaughter Amy Marie Rubottom (Michael), great-granddaughters Nikki Jane Rubottom and Whitney Marie Rubottom; son Jerry Strand (Maggie), granddaughter Joan Kirkpatrick, great-grandson Quentin Kirkpatrick, grandson Jerry Earl Strand (Merylyn) and granddaughter Jennifer Livengood (Forrest). Also step-grandchildren: Carole Schaffer (Ken), Timothy Bennett, David Bennett, Mark Bennett, and many nieces and nephews. He was a member of the former Valley River Baptist Church. Earl was a kind and loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Grandpa-Great, with a jest for life and a healthy sense of humor. At his request, a private family Celebration of Life and inurnment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery "on a warm day when the sun is shining".
