Obituary of Marcia Evans

Marcia Evans passed away on December 27, 2014. She fell and fractured her hip that morning and passed away that night from her fracture and other health issues.Marcia was born in San Francisco, California, on September 26, 1921, to Carl and Madeline Dustin. Marcia was born minutes prior to her identical twin sister, Muriel, who preceded her in death in 2012. Marcia and Muriel were raised in San Diego, CA, with their younger brother, Carl. Marcia and Muriel attended the University of Idaho where Marcia met her future husband, James (Jimmy) Evans. When Jim was drafted on his birthday, the day after Pearl Harbor, he was sent to Europe and rose to the rank of Major in the U.S. Army. Marcia waited for Jim to return on October 31, 1945, and they were married on November 11, 1945 (Veterans Day).Jim reentered the Air Force in 1951. He, Marcia and family lived in many states in the U.S. and Japan, until his retirement in 1969 when they moved to Eugene. Marcia was a homemaker until her three children, Ken, Jan and Casey, were out of high school. She worked as a tour guide for Holidays Abroad, while Jim taught accounting at Lane Community College. Jim preceded Marcia in death in 2005. He and Marcia were married for 59 years. After Marcia lost Jim and her twin sister, Muriel, her life was emotionally difficult, but she made the best of it. She was visited frequently at her Sheldon Park apartment by her daughter, Jan and her son, Casey, who saw to her every need. She especially enjoyed playing Rummikub with her children and other residents of Sheldon Park. She often won and laughed when she prevailed. Her mind was sharp until the end.Marcia is survived by her brother, Carl; her three children, Ken, Jan and Casey; four grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Kyla and Kelsey; four great grandchildren, Madelyn, Sam, Mara and Abby. She owes a debt of gratitude to the staff at Sheldon Park Assisted Living, the emergency room staff at Riverbend Hospital and Signature Hospice. At Marcia’s request, there will be no services. Her only request is that “you visit your parents while they are still here.”Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
