Obituary of Olive Thompson-Budden

THOMPSON-BUDDEN, Olive – Peacefully and surrounded by her family at University Hospital on Sunday, February 6th, 2011, Olive Thompson-Budden (nee Rideout), of London, in her 84th year. Pre-deceased by her husband Jack Budden (2010) and by her husband of 50 years Tom Thompson (1998). Loving Mom of Rev. Dr. Robert Thompson and his wife Rev. Beverly, of Simcoe, Barry Thompson and his wife Elaine, of Mississauga, Leigh Anne Cain and her husband Geoff, of London and Craig Thompson and his wife Maureen, of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Proud Nana of Christy Thompson (Sean), Andrew Thompson, Michelle McCune (Colin), David Thompson, Jennifer, Lindsay and Heather Cain and Cameron Tommy Thompson. Dear sister of Jim Rideout (June), of Windsor, and Don Rideout (Jean), of North Bay, and sister-in-law of Ralph Thompson (Sandra), of New Hamburg. Also pre-deceased by her parents Herbert Allan Rideout and Sarah Christina Boyd. Fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Olive was proud of her Cape Breton heritage, a long-term parishioner of Byron United Church (UCW) and a long-term member of Westhaven Golf & Country Club. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North. A Celebration of Life will be held at Byron United Church, 420 Boler Road, London, on Thursday, February 10th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to ALS or to Byron United Church would be gratefully appreciated.
