Mr. Evelyn (even at age 49, he will always be known to me as Mr. Evelyn) was my art teacher at Lake Braddock Secondary School in Burke, Virginia. I have fond memories of those classes and remember thinking at the time what a kind man he was and how comfortable he was with who he was. I am sad to hear of his passing but grateful to learn of his rich life.

I am in FL for the winter, and just heard today about David's death. Ron Kolonowski saw that I was not at the funeral, and knew that I hadn't heard. I have been in tears all day. David and I were in the same St. Mark's confirmation class over 25 years ago, and have been dear friends ever since. So many memories of my lovely friend--his 50th birthday party, visiting him in Maine during Barbie's kidnapping, introducing him to the deep South in my north Florida hometown for the annual Catfish...

I am so sad to have heard of the passing of the talented, warm, fun loving gentleman we knew as Dave. Having gone to the same church in Pleasantville, same class in high school, and then to end up at the same great university, Bucknell, I felt very lucky. It was wonderful to get to chat with Dave at our high school reunion last year to add to my memories. Condolences to Dave's family and friends. He was a truly unique human being.

I had a chance to introduce my wife Mary to him at our 50th reunion. Two days later on our flight home she turned to me and said, "That guy Dave acted as if he had known me all his life." A truly kind person.

Dave was my locker neighbor all through high school - a wonderful, silly, tender friend. At our 40th high school reunion we reconnected and spent a wonderful couple of days the following summer on the island off the coast of Maine where I live. We were both without partners at the time, and one bright spot in the terrible sadness of Dave's death for me is knowing that he found a life partner in Robert. I will always cherish the small painting he gave me of a tiny Maine island. My heart is...

On the Millenium, David brought all the materials to make snow globes to a dinner party. I still have mine with Daisey Duck and a stripped lizard. When I moved to my new house in Va. he gave me one of his paintings. He included his art in
all of his life. He also introduced me to the Isleboro dog show and other special island events. A dear, generous,
friend, like no other. A sad empty space.

David was a friend since elementary school in Thornwood. In high school we took art classes together, worked on the same organizations and were in a talent show comedy act together. At our first class reunion we were surprised to find out we had both become art teachers, were active in our churches and took on leadership roles. What a great dancer he was. Even though he was cautious, we danced a slow lindy together at our 50th. David touched many people's lives in such good ways. I will not...
