Obituary of Mary Moyer
Mary Ellen Moyer (Hall) was born as the only daughter to Frank and Mary Hall in Kansas in1936.Her parents brought her out to Oregon where her father worked in the logging industry in the Willamette valley, and they built their home in the Noti Oregon area. Mary grew up attending the public schools in Elmira, and graduated High school in 1955.Mary met Jim Moyer via a letter writing campaign while he was serving in the Army, stationed in Korea. Through their letters they became acquainted, enjoyed writing each other immensely, telling each other of their adventures, and lives. Once Jim had returned home and received his discharge he went to Oregon to meet this “Mary” of his letters. Upon their meeting, a truly “forever” connection was formed between the two and they were married in 1956.Mary was a dedicated homemaker, where Jim and Mary raised their family in the west Eugene vicinity. Throughout her life she enjoyed church, family events, was an accomplished award winning seamstress. Other hobbies included reading; her beloved pets, and gardening. Because of her many interests she had many friends, and acquaintances. She actively supported many missionary programs, and in recent years involved with feral cat rescue.Mary is preceded in death by her parents, and her loss is mourned by her husband Jim, her 3 children Dan, Scott, and Susie - and their families; as well as Mary’s 5 grandchildren – James, Kasey, Alex, Blaine, Tyler, and their families, as well her one great grandchild, Liam.Mary’s Memorial service will be at the Elmira Open Bible Church, 88899 Territorial Road Elmira, OR 97437.
