Obituary of Garth Richard Beamish
BEAMISH, Garth Richard – A quiet gentle soul who enriched our lives with his love and innocence, passed away surrounded by family in the serenity of his home on Sunday, December 5th, 2010. He was 53. Garth was the beloved son of W.R. “Dick” Beamish and the late Shirley M. Beamish, precious brother to Maureen Dragasevich (John), Heather Vitali (Greg), and Grant Beamish (Joan Lamoureux), and wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephew, Erin, Mark and Shannon Dragasevich, Ashley and Sarah Vitali, and Leah and Chloe Beamish. He will be missed by his golfing buddy and lifelong friend, Rick Pettigrew, and his colleagues at Highbury Ford, where he was a dedicated employee for 16 years. Garth was a loyal Maple Leafs supporter, music lover, and arguably the most ardent fan of Paul McCartney and The Beatles on the planet. He was also blessed with the wisdom to preserve and celebrate the child within him, and derive true joy from life’s simple pleasures. Garth inspired us with his tolerance, acceptance, and kindness. Friends may call at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North on Friday, December 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Aidan’s Anglican Church, 1246 Oxford Street West, on Saturday, December 11th at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to London Regional Cancer Program (Gene Goodreau Patient Assistance Fund) c/o London Health Sciences Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Eva Gyacskov-Melter, Dr. Maria Parent, Grace Bradish, and all the doctors, nurses and community caregivers who provided such thoughtful support to Garth and our family.
