Obituary of Joyce Jones

Joyce Jones, 91, passed away at Marquis Care Center in Wilsonville, Oregon on Feb. 18, 2015 of age related causes. Joyce was born in Colton, South Dakota on Sept 13, 1923 to Jacob and Disa Hovland. After graduating from Colton High School, Joyce moved to San Diego, California where she worked as a draftsman for an aircraft manufacturer during WWII. She met Myrl Jones while there and they were married on Aug. 14, 1944. They were married for 58 years. Joyce is survived by 4 children, Dorothy (Boyd) Low of Lethbridge, Alberta Canada, Robert (Candy) Jones of Estero, Florida, Donald Jones of Sweetwater, Texas, and Mark Jones of Mercer Island, Washington; two sisters, Betty Luther and Lavon Wilson; one brother, Richard Hovland; 8 Grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Myrl, two sisters, Clara Anderson and Myrtle Whitworth and a brother Jake Hovland. Joyce was a loving, caring mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Her strong faith in God was evident in all aspects of her life and affected her family deeply. Her resident community often commented on her inspiring spirit and attitude. Joyce will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 20th, at 1:00 p.m., at Grace Fellowship, 834 Monroe St., Eugene. Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
