Obituary of Ila Poague

Ila Fern Poague was born on January 22, 1932 in Sharon Springs, Kansas, to Alva & Luella Holmes. Ila died on February 18, 2015 from Alzheimer's.She married Harold Poague on September 11, 1950 and had three daughters. Harold preceded her in death in 1985.Survivors are their children, Marilyn Poling (Ken) of Springfield, OR., Terry Lynn of Eugene, OR., and Laura Pickering (Andrew) of Eugene, OR., 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren & 2 great great grandchildren.Ila spent her life dedicated to her family. She always strived to be a part of their lives in any way she could. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, cook, homemaker, seamstress and friend. She volunteered at the ACE school, helped out in the church, where she attended and worked for Econo Sales for several years. Ila also loved to walk & visit with her neighbors when she lived in her own home.Ila spent the last few years of her life living at Bayberry Commons Memory Care. Everyone tried to convince her that she could now enjoy being waited on and do whatever she wanted all day! However, she could not just do that. She spent her time helping the staff with cleaning/laundry chores, doing activities & loved to help with the residents until she no longer could, after breaking her hip and subject to a wheelchair. She had a good sense of humor and made the staff and other residents laugh and love her. Her family LOVES her so much and will MISS her terribly. They are however, glad she no longer is in pain or has to endure all the cruel hardships her disease dealt her.In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer's Association. We pray a cure can be found so this cruel disease does not affect the life of someone you love.A Celebration of Life for Ila will be held at Garden Way Church of Christ at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2015. Ila's daughter's encourage you to bring your favorite memory of Ila to share with them.Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary. Please access the obituary at musgroves.com
