I will never forget John as a fellow ham radio friend. He remained so positive right up until the end. John loved phone chats and was the number one person up on the daily gossip. His appreciation for his friendships and the wonderful staff at Parkwood Hospital should never go unoticed. " The bigger the boys - the bigger the toys " John had them all. Well beneath his exterior was a very kind and understanding man. He always managed to adapt to whatever the cards of life dealt him. I will miss all those emails and his voice on my answering machine saying " Hi Nick. it's John. Give me a call ". His daily " mud report " became his personna. His too many " Taxes " thinking kept all of us behind him. Good man and a gift to ham radio. 73 John es CUL de Nick VE3NJG

My regrets to John's family and friends. I worked with him from 1965 until my retirement in 1994 in DOC and IC. Fond memories of working with him in Toronto Field office , especially during the Peak of CB radio. Always fun and easy to work with. Deepest regrets on losing another of our old group in DOC Gerry B Peterborough

Dear Claire and Family: We offer our sincere sympathy in the loss of your loved one. Even though you moved away from Toronto, many fond memories remain of visits to your home when the girls were small, and of my working with John at DOC in Toronto. I used to look forward to John's EMO Net on Two meters each week.

Laurie: Your Dad was such a special man, and it was my privilege to get to know him and your family. I am so sorry, mere words are inadequate. John was just up visiting 5ANorth last week and his spirits were good, he looked good, and of course, he had chocolate for me. It is pleasing to me to remember your Dad smiling that day. My deepest thoughts are with you and your Mom and family. sincerely, and with big hugs, Laurie Willert

Laurie, I'm sorry about your dad. I know you will miss him. I knew he was not well at all. He always amazed me how he always said hi when he passed me by, always was able to smile regardless of what shape his own life was in. I admired him greatly for that! Now I read he was a kind man, and I've certainly seen that. I hope you find some kind of comfort for yourself, Laurie. Many thoughts are also with your mom and your sister. I will be thinking of each of you tomorrow. ............Deka

Dear Laurie Walter and I were so sorry to hear from George that your beloved father had passed away. Walter truly enjoyed John while he shared a room with him at Parkwood. We had hoped to visit with you and John one day but things didn't work out. We called several times and talked with John as recently as a week ago and all things seemed to be getting better for him. Be strong, Laurie. This will be a difficult time filled with so many thoughts and having to deal with all the financial matters too. Our thoughts are with you. We'd love to meet with you at some time in the near future. Call us when you are able (519-672-7732). Remember, we are here to help provide support to you. Laurie, you made our day, every day you appeared at Parkwood. Let us help you now.
